Wound Care Physician – Part-Time / Per Diem

Location: Roxborough, Pennsylvania
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Position Type: Part-Time / Per Diem
Minimum Commitment: 2 days per week
Practice Setting: Outpatient Wound Care & Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Clinic

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Wound Care Physician to join our outpatient wound care program in Roxborough, PA. This is a flexible part-time/per diem opportunity with a minimum commitment of two days per week, working 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The physician will provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of patients with acute and chronic wounds, develop individualized treatment plans, perform wound care procedures, and coordinate care with other medical specialties and healthcare professionals.

 

Procedural Privileges

The position may include privileges for the following wound care procedures, as appropriate to the physician’s training, experience, and hospital credentialing:

  • Tissue biopsy, including tangential, punch, incisional, and excisional biopsy
  • Pathology and wound cultures
  • Sharp/surgical debridement
  • Open wound/selective debridement
  • Non-selective debridement, including mechanical, enzymatic, or autolytic techniques
  • Incision and drainage
  • Total contact cast application
  • Application of cellular tissue products and/or skin grafts
  • Application of growth factors and advanced biologic therapies
  • Removal of foreign bodies
  • Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT)
  • Application of topical or injectable local anesthetics
  • Doppler and pulse interpretation
  • Transcutaneous monitoring (TCOM)
  • Needle aspiration
  • Compression wraps
  • Evacuation of hematomas and fluid collections
  • Cauterization for bleeding control
  • Wound closure and suturing
  • Suture and staple removal in complex wounds

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

For physicians providing HBO services, additional training and documentation may be required, including completion and certification of required 40-hour hyperbaric oxygen training.

HBO responsibilities may include:

  • Evaluation of patients for appropriate HBO therapy
  • Diagnosis and management of conditions and comorbidities affecting HBO treatment
  • Management of potential complications associated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy
  • Following HBO safety and emergency response protocols
  • Airway management and emergency response when clinically indicated

Schedule & Opportunity

  • 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Minimum 2 days per week
  • Part-time/per diem flexibility
  • Outpatient wound care environment
  • No requirement for a traditional full-time schedule
  • Opportunity to work within an established wound care and HBO program

This opportunity is well suited for a physician with current outpatient wound care experience who is seeking a flexible part-time/per diem schedule while continuing an active wound care practice.

Responsibilities

 

The Wound Care Physician will be responsible for:

  • Performing comprehensive history and physical examinations
  • Diagnosing acute and chronic wounds and developing individualized treatment plans
  • Ordering, interpreting, and coordinating appropriate diagnostic testing
  • Prescribing medications and providing patient education and counseling
  • Coordinating care with primary care physicians, specialists, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers
  • Maintaining accurate and timely medical documentation
  • Evaluating wound progression and modifying treatment plans as clinically appropriate
  • Managing complex and non-healing wounds in an outpatient setting

Qualifications

 

  • MD or DO
  • Board certification or board eligibility in an appropriate specialty
  • Active clinical experience in outpatient wound care
  • Demonstrated experience managing chronic, complex, and non-healing wounds
  • Ability to perform appropriate wound care procedures based on training and experience
  • Current medical license in Pennsylvania
  • Current DEA registration, as applicable
  • BLS/ACLS as required by the facility
  • HBO certification/training required if participating in hyperbaric services
  • Excellent clinical, communication, and documentation skills
