Operating Room Technician (OR Tech) - Full Time Days

The Operating Room Technician (OR Tech) prepares sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures, maintains the sterile field, and provides intraoperative support to surgeons and the surgical team. 

This role ensures patient safety, infection prevention, and efficient operating room workflow. 

• Prepare and organize sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout assigned cases.
• Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to surgeons during procedures.
• Perform surgical counts according to patient safety protocols.
• Inspect instruments and equipment to ensure cleanliness, functionality, and sterility.
• Assist with operating room setup and turnover between cases.
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other perioperative staff.
• Support emergency and urgent surgical procedures as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to surgical supplies and instruments.

Education and Work Experience

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014.
2. Graduate of an ORT training program or on the job training with a minimum of 3 years experience (surgical setting preferred).
3. Experience in scrubbing minor and major procedures in the generalized surgical specialties, (i.e., GYN, General and Plastics).
4. Experience in scrubbing at least minor procedures in the specialty surgical areas (i.e., ortho, neuro, ENT, Uro. Etc.).
5. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
