Lead Human Resources Strategy in a Hospital Environment

 

Olympia Fields Hospital is seeking a strategic, collaborative Human Resources Director to lead hospital HR operations and serve as a trusted advisor to executive and operational leaders. This role will help shape workforce strategy, strengthen employee relations, support talent acquisition and retention, and ensure consistent compliance with federal, state, and healthcare regulatory requirements.

 

The HR Director will oversee programs and practices across the employee lifecycle, including selection, training, performance management, employee relations, job evaluation, policy administration, and organizational change. The successful candidate will combine strong operational judgment with the ability to influence leaders, resolve complex workplace matters, and support a positive employee experience that advances high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

· Provide strategic and operational leadership for hospital human resources programs, policies, and practices.

· Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership regarding workforce strategy, employee relations, organizational structure, and the people implications of operational decisions.

· Lead employee-relations matters, including workplace investigations, disputes, grievances, performance concerns, and disciplinary recommendations.

· Promote consistent, fair, and compliant application of employment policies and practices.

· Partner with Talent Acquisition and hospital leaders to support recruitment, selection, onboarding, retention, and workforce-planning priorities.

· Guide performance management, leadership development, training, succession planning, and organizational-development initiatives.

· Analyze and evaluate jobs and support appropriate job classification and related HR practices.

· Monitor labor-market and workforce trends and provide practical recommendations to hospital leadership.

· Ensure compliance with federal and state employment requirements, including wage-and-hour regulations and applicable ERISA guidelines.

· Support readiness for Joint Commission, HFAP, and other applicable healthcare regulatory or accreditation requirements.

· Use workforce information and HR metrics to identify trends, manage risk, and improve the employee experience.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Required

· Bachelor’s degree.

· Three years of related healthcare experience.

· Knowledge of hospital organization and the functions of hospital departments.

· Current knowledge of personnel practices and techniques, training methods, job analysis, and performance-review practices.

· Knowledge of state and federal wage-and-hour requirements.

· Ability to advise leaders, manage sensitive employee matters, and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

 

Preferred

· Master’s degree.

· Progressive human resources leadership experience in a hospital, health system, or other healthcare organization.

· Experience in employee relations, labor relations, talent acquisition, workforce planning, leadership development, or organizational change.

· Knowledge of local labor-market conditions, ERISA guidelines, Joint Commission standards, and HFAP standards.

· Professional HR certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP

Olympia Fields Hospital offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that allows employees to tailor benefits to their individual needs. The Total Rewards package includes paid time off, a 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and additional voluntary benefit options.

 

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, including estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $110,264 to $160,364 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation will be determined when an applicant is selected for hire and will consider job-related factors including skills, applicable experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
