The Supervisor of Materials provides professional support in the areas of supply processing, distribution, purchasing, receiving and inventory management. The primary objective is to manage and control the flow of supplies and equipment from acquisition to disposition. Areas of emphasis include supply and capital budgets, inventory control, asset management and adherence to organizational contracts and group purchasing agreements for supplies and equipment. Responsible for department budget adherence and requisite review and analysis of departmental operations reports. The Supervisor is also responsible for the attendance and participation in designated hospital committees. Assures that department operations adhere to guidelines per the state, accreditation and all other agencies.
Supervises the employment processes of all direct employees including but not limited to hiring, disciplining and training.
Assists staff in resolving department problems.
Evaluates employees timely.
Monitors employee attendance, insures employees attend mandatory educations and other programs/training as required by the hospital.
Assures department staff is scheduled according to department policies.
Assures complete, accurate timecards are submitted at designated times
Contributes ongoing department information for individual knowledge and skill development.
Identifies problems and counsels staff in a time and equitable manner.
Documents all counseling/disciplinary activities according to Human Resources policies and procedures.
Reviews role expectations for prospective employees during the interview process using job description, department standards and policies.
Interprets for staff roles of department and hospital personnel to ensure productive relationships.
Responsible for the supervision of controlling, counting and reporting of all hospital supply inventories.
Assists peer with their supply and equipment concerns.
All other duties as assigned or required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Three to five years experience as a Supervisor in health care materials management preferred
2. Management skills of planning, organizing, prioritizing and staffing.
3. Computer skills
4. Working knowledge of logistics, business ethics, math and business management
