The Critical Care Step Down Registered Nurse (RN)  involved the care of patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment, but patients in this unit aren’t unstable enough to need the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).   


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Deliver compassionate and accurate care for some of our most critically ill patients
  • Ability to research and collaborate with the latest developments in acute care
  • Provide basic bedside care including dressing changes, catheter care, assisting the patient with moving, and taking vital signs
  • Monitor and adjust specialized electronic equipment such as cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, and oxygen pumps
  • Coordinate with health care team members to evaluate, plan, and implement patient care plans


Saint Joseph Medical Center is looking for experienced Nurses for our Critical Care Step Down role.

Education and Work Experience

  1. Current and valid state RN License.
  2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  3. Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current preferred.
  4. Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
  5. Ventilator Management experience preferred.
  6. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
