Overview

The Peer Support Specialist role is to offer support to CSU clients from the unique perspective of someone who has been there; by bridging the gap between client needs and programs’ ability to meet those needs. Contributes to the programs productivity and documentation requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Meets ALLY Program’s documentation standards including timely progress note data entry requirements.
  • Assists clients in developing goals and prioritizing areas of need and steps needed to reach the goals established. Continually monitors progress and supports clients.
  • Provides individual assistance as indicated.
  • Maintains constant contact with ALLY Program Supervisor and seeks advice and assistance as needed.
  • Functions as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and participates in treatment team meetings.
  • Attends and maintains mandatory training in safe patient handling, trained in safe lifting techniques, includes but not limited to 1)
  • Appropriate use of lifting devices and equipment, 2) Five areas of body exposure: vertical, lateral, bariatric repositioning and ambulation, 3) Use of lifting devices to handle patients safely, as appropriate to program requirements.
  • Ensures quality care through continuous evaluation and monitoring. Willing to take initiative and start new groups, takes action toward making improvements and assists with program development.
  • Documents all significant contacts and services provided in the electronic medical record.
  • Conducts billable support groups for patients/families as indicated
  • Assists in data collection and statistical analysis as needed.
  • Works in accordance with the ALLY Program and Policy and Procedure Manual
  • Takes initiative to organize supplies and clean workstations
  • Performs other duties as assigned by ALLY program manager and lead clinician

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1.            High School Graduate

2.            Current BCLS certificate

3.            Assaultive Behavior Training

4.            Minimum of one (1) year full time firsthand experience as a person experiencing mental illness and/or cared for a family member who is receiving or has received Mental Health services.

5.            Bilingual /Bi-cultural(Spanish Language) preferred
