Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - Job Responsibilities:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse provides direct and indirect patient care services requiring technical and manual skills, within the scope of practice, that meet the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care, and meets the communication needs of the patient and family; Performs under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.




  • Perform focused assessments and contributes to care planning, interventions, medications within LVN scope and evaluations
  • Collects and documents data: emergent reason for visit, height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation rate, respiratory rate, allergies, medication history, pain level, major surgeries, major medical conditions, and health behavior
  • Participates in the planning of nursing care needs for patients, and in modifying the nursing care plan for assigned patients
  • Performs and documents nursing care in compliance with policies, procedures and practices established by the nursing department and the hospital
  • Records pertinent information in patient’s medical record
  • Follows established hospital and departmental infection control policies
  • Demonstrate behaviors that promote development of positive outcomes in relation to the practice of vocational nursing

Education and Work Experience:

  • Current and valid state license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Minimum one year experience in an applicable setting preferred.
  • IV certification upon hire
