Performs Diagnostic Radiographic, Cat Scan, Mammography, Bone Density, Ultra Sound or Special Procedures according to department protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers and is successful in the accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in PI/ QC activities. Assists in Maintaining Performance Improvement Program. Supervises Radiology staff in the absence. Maintains department supplies. Promotes teamwork and good customer service. Assists in annual evaluations and staff discipline. Does scheduling for assigned sub departments and maintains supplies and equipment for assigned sub department. Responsible for processing and transmission of Images to PACS.

• Positions patients and sets technical factors for all diagnostic procedures. Sets high personal standards for film and image quality.
• Follows department exam protocols.
• Modifies patient protocols relative to the patient physical and cognitive abilities. Discuss these issues with the Radiologist and properly document patient information.
• Appropriately charges all exams performed.
• Ensures all exams are accurately labeled with patient ID, date, technologist ID and time of exam.
• Covers patients during transportation and while performing procedures.
• Ensures compliance with all deemed agencies, State and Federal regulations.
• Maintains medical and surgical aseptic procedures / practices good infection control techniques, can fully explain universal precaution principle.
• Able to assess pain interfering with imaging procedure- makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
• Has understanding and participates in PI process.
• All QC is done at required intervals and appropriately logged- Service calls are placed if QC is out of controls.
• Consistently maintains neat & clean workplace appropriate to hospital standards.
• Work pace is consistent with the department standards. Able to assist Radiologist with therapeutic procedures by having all supplies and techniques ready.
• Sets technical factors accurately to minimize patient dose. Consistently determines pregnancy status of women of child bearing age, before performing exam.
• Utilizes Radiations Safety Techniques while performing radiographic procedures and properly shields patients when appropriate.
• Follows all radiation safety standards for patients, employees and family members. Wears radiation badge as per protocol.
• Uses personal protective equipment appropriately and regularly.
• Informs and educates patients and families regarding procedure to be performed.
• Ascertains patient understanding of process and informed consent. Ensures consent is signed prior to examination.

Education and Work Experience

1. Licensure and/or fluoroscopy permit as required by State.
2. Effective July 1, 2017 national certification in three modalities or if functioning in a leadership role, national certification in 2 modalities and leadership experience required.
3. Must be familiar with State and Federal regulations.
4. Current BCLS (AHA).
5. One year of acute clinical radiography preferred.
6. Graduate of a program accredited by JRCERT or ABHES
7. Proficient computer skills.
