In collaboration with the manager/director of the department is responsible for assisting in the coordination, integration, and implementation of the organization wide performance improvement activities to ensure compliance with company policies and accreditation standards while maintaining CDC, OSHA, and other federal, state or local regulatory agencies standards or directives. Activities include but are not limited to chart reviews, data abstraction for CMS, NHSN, and other outcomes studies, and staff education. Develop, and adapt as necessary, information systems to report on key performance indicators to ensure that Supervisor/ Managers/Director can measure and monitor and continuously improve performance. The Infection Control Preventionist Trainee is responsible for surveillance, prevention, and control of infection. Assists with policy and procedure development and implementation while maintaining CDC, OSHA, AOA HFAP/TJC/CMS/local regulatory and other regulatory agency standards, or directives. Acts as a primary education consultant to hospital employees, physicians, patients, volunteers, and visitors in safe Infection Control/Prevention practices. Coordinates all hospital infection control activities with the Infection Control Committee, Medical Staff, and hospital employees. Responds to potential exposures by communicating with patients, physicians, employees, volunteers, and regulatory agencies. ICPT will conduct internal audits, reviewing supporting documentation, and appraise preparedness of the auditors. Required to work closely with colleagues in producing information analysis and data abstractors for retro, concurrent, and real time monitoring.
