Responsibilities

The infection Control Coordinator is responsible for surveillance, isolation/precautions, prevention and control of infection.  Entry-level infection prevention coordinator will assist with implementation, evaluation, and modification of the St Francis Medical Center guided by Infection control director and work with infection control and preventionist. .Activities include problem identification and management, data and information collection, analysis and management, improvement processes, outcome evaluation and education. Analyzes data to recognize potentially important relationships or patterns of infection.  Collects data and submits data for, but not limited to, QM, patient safety, infection control committee and Corporate.  Provides education for precautions to prevent transmission of infections for:  Standard precautions, Transmission based precautions.  May provide orientation to all new employees.  Documents and reports all reportable communicable diseases.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

Experience, education, skills, licensure or training required:  

    

Graduate from an accredited school with a bachelor’s degree in medicine, Licensed Vocational Nurse, epidemiology, microbiology, public health or other life science related field, preferred.  If a Licensed Vocational nurse, must be licensed by the State where the facility is located.  Current BLS (AHA) Certificate upon hire and maintain current.

  1. At least one (1) year experience in a health care setting required or public Health.  One year or more of experience in infection control and/or employee health is preferred.  Successful completion of a course in Infection Control  within 24 months of hire preferred.
