Emergency Department Technician Advanced is responsible for the assessment and basic management of medical, trauma and environmental emergencies under the supervision of the physician. This position will also be responsible for transporting telemetry patients as well as receiving report from field emergency personnel. Patient care will include: physical screening with documentation, BLS, performs phlebotomy, inserts peripheral IV access and administers standard intravenous solutions without additives.

The substance use navigator (SUN) helps patients access evidence-based treatment for substance use disorders with a focus on low-threshold access to MAT (medication for addiction treatment) and harm-reduction. SUNs conduct outreach and identification of patients, conduct initial brief assessments, introduce patients to MAT programs and services, facilitate appointments at outpatient MAT clinics, serve as a resource and coach for their clients, and advocate for culture change in the hospital. They also assist with access to other services such as financial counseling, primary care, mental health services, social services, and residential treatment facilities. The substance use navigator will work in a collaboratively style and approach with the Social Services I, Social Services II, Social Services III and the Case Manager in the Behavioral Health Department to meet the needs of our patients. The substance use navigator will also work with staff and/or providers in the Emergency Department, Crisis Stabilization Unit and other hospital or Shasta Regional Medical Group Providers. Assists with Discharge Planning as assigned by interviewing patients/families and gathering data to develop a safe patient-focused Discharge Plan. Advocate for a harm-reduction approach to patients who use drugs within the hospital and community to reinforce evidence-based, non-judgmental approaches so that patients who use drugs get the same care as patients who do not use drugs.

Assesses procedure room or equipment functioning and readiness. Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the Cardiovascular Laboratory team are met. Monitors physiologic and hemodynamic data, as related to diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures performed in the cardiovascular lab. Monitors and records patients condition continuously while in the Cardiovascular lab. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
The Nurse Assistant in the Med Surg/Telemetry Department is an unlicensed non-certified assistive person who assists with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to non-critical patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the Med/Surg/Telemetry Unit. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients. He / She communicates with physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including cardiac monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment.
The Unit Secretary is directly accountable to the Director of MST, and indirectly to the Charge Nurse, and / or House Supervisor. The Unit Secretary is an unlicensed person who performs indirect care in the department setting. Facilitates the communication needs of the department. Transcribes physician orders from records (in the absence of CPOE and EMR clinical documentation system) with notation and signature by nursing staff. Prepares and complies records on the Emergency Room. Orders supplies for the unit, prepares and completes each patients chart for necessary forms needed on a daily basis. Able to assist nursing staff for duties involving indirect patient care.
The Account Representative is responsible for posting all incoming payments to correct patient accounts on a daily basis. Inputs and retrieves data from computer systems. Reconciles accounts daily. Applies payments to patient accounts accurately and efficiently. Distribution of all billing to appropriate personnel. Reviews and performs follow-up on all authorizations, and specialty referrals. Maintains a current knowledge of contracts and state Worker’s Compensation fee schedules. Responsible for the handling of incoming and outgoing mail pertaining to the hospital. Needs to have ability to recognize and correct mailing errors immediately. Always uses proper tact and discretion in handling inquiries from patients and their families. The Account Representative is responsible for accurate and timely payment analysis of managed care contracts to determine that appropriate reimbursement is received. Utilizing many complex and varying regulations, guidelines and systems, analyzes payments received from insurance companies to assure maximum and correct reimbursement of Hospital’s receivables. Proactively works with payers and in-house resources to identify and resolve issues that hinder optimal and correct account payment. Utilizes and applies the appropriate state and federal regulations in order to assure compliance in payment practices.
