Under the direction and authorization of the medical director and cardiopulmonary director, the RCP II is responsible for performing respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician. Emphasis will be toward the assessment, planning, implementation and documentation of care, with consideration of age and population specific needs and requirements of the patient. In the absence of a supervisor, may be assigned/identified as Lead RCP, having responsibility for the section or department during their shift.

Staff RN-Cardiovascular is directly accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting in both the Main OR and Cardiovascular OR through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and older adults. The Registered Nurse coordinates the care of the patient with the surgeon and anesthesiologist, directs and guides the OR Technician and other personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Works with other departments to provide a continuum of care and co-workers to provide continuous, quality patient care, efficient patient flow and unit maintenance and organization. Responsible for adherence to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedures. Responsible for participation in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services. Acts as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.

Demonstrate competency to deliver a planned course of radiation therapy accurately and safely. Use appropriate machine settings to deliver treatment while visually monitoring the patient and treatment console during treatment. Takes appropriate verification images. Check treatment plans and parameters prior to initial treatment. Reports any deviations in treatment plan to appropriate channels. Performs and maintains Quality Assurance activities.

The Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Psychiatric Technician provides direct and indirect patient care services requiring technical and manual skills, within the scope of practice, that meet the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care, and meets the communication needs of the patient and family; Performs under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Demonstrates knowledge of EMTALA Regulations and triage process in the ER setting.

Cardiovascular Sonographer- Certified uses ultrasound to visualize internal cardiac structures, obtain measurements of cardiac valves, ventricles, atria and evaluate hemodynamics of cardiac structures or performs vascular ultrasound procedures, including but not limited to upper and lower venous duplex (DVT and insufficiency testing, vein mapping, dialysis access), upper and lower extremity arterial duplex and physiological, extracranial, TCI/TDC, aortoiliac, renal artery and mesenteric Assists the physician with complex ultrasound procedures. Performs exams by lab protocol using lab diagnostic criteria; completes required information on PACS. Promotes the smooth and efficient operation of the Cardiovascular Ultrasound Department through the appropriate utilization and management of all clerical functions within the department including document handling and disposition, interpersonal relationships and information gathering and dispersion. Meets all requirements set forth by accreditation (ICAEL and ICAVL) and governing bodies, including JCAHO, federal and state bodies, and department-specific requirements. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Advanced Imaging I use equipment to visualize internal structures, blood flow and obtain measurements. American College of Radiology (ACR) and Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) are the 2 guiding bodies used in Imaging. In the Radiology settings, ACR is followed. In the Cardio-vascular Ultrasound setting, IAC is followed. Cardio-Vascular Sonographer practice following Protocols and Techniques as per scribed by the Cardio-Vascular Medical Director. Advanced Imaging I, practice following the protocols and techniques as per scribed by Imaging Medical Director. All Advanced Imaging I, will practice their skills within the scope of their credentials and with a valid written physician’s order always.  Skill evaluations will be done by the area supervisor or preceptor assigned.  Advanced Imaging I will perform, under the supervision of a physician and complete exams per protocol using diagnostic criteria; completes required information on PACS. Promotes the smooth and efficient operation of the Imaging Department through the appropriate utilization and management of all clerical functions within the department including document handling and disposition, interpersonal relationships and information gathering and dispersion. Meets all requirements set forth by accreditation (ICAEL, ICAVL and ACR) as appropriate and governing bodies, including JCAHO, federal and state bodies, and department-specific requirements. The Behavioral Health Charge Nurse is responsible and accountable to the Department Director for the quality of nursing staff and the delivery of patient care during his/her shift and assists the Director in the daily operation of the respective unit(s)/department. He/she provides direct communication with the Director and/or House Supervisor of unanticipated patient care events and/or risk management activities within patient care unit(s); Utilizes nursing personnel effectively, assisting with required scheduling, staffing and assignments; Provides direction, supervision and evaluation of staff and/or staff education as necessary; Assists with performance evaluations, progressive discipline of staff and other related HR activities as needed; Assesses supplies and equipment availability, ensures their proper use and functionality and assists in the daily maintenance of par levels; Collaborates with other department managers/supervisors to ensure smooth coordination of services to patients; enhanced patient flow within the facility and efficient admission/discharge/transfer processes; Assesses patient care delivery and quality of care/documentation on a consistent basis; directs staff members to make immediate changes in the plan of care, as appropriate to ensure patient safety and adherence to regulatory guidelines, hospital policies, procedures, protocols and/or clinical pathways and notifies Department Director, House Supervisor and/or Medical Staff as appropriate utilizing the chain of command. Interviews patients/families on admission and during rounds to enhance positive patient experiences, provide comprehensive orientation to the patient care unit and increase patient/family awareness on how to access services and/or the charge nurse, if necessary. The Charge Nurse may perform direct patient care within scope of practice and clinical competency to ensure patient safety and patient/nurse ratios.

Registered nurses (RNs) perform basic duties that include treating patients, educating patients about mental and medical conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients’ and/or family members, running therapeutic groups, psychiatric crisis intervention, seclusion and restraint of patients. RNs record patients’ medical histories and symptoms, help to perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operate medical machinery, administer treatment and medications, and help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation. RNs teach patients and their families how to manage their illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and physical therapy. Other related duties.
