Each individual performs those waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CLIA, Bus. & Prof. Code Section 1204, and must possess a degree of skill commensurate with individuals education, training or experience and technical abilities. Each individual performing the above procedures must:
- Adhere to the laboratory's procedures for the collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results
- Follow the laboratory's established quality control policies and procedures in documenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications
- Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance and either correct the problem or immediately notify your immediate supervisor, Director, or Medical Director
- Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures requiring independent judgment using both manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and any other discipline as introduced into the laboratory
- Perform and document maintenance daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed on instruments and equipment as appropriate
- Review the accuracy of patient results prior to releasing or reporting
- Recognize age specific differences in expected results for newborns to geriatrics
- Ensure that the testing of proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples and that collaboration with other laboratories is prohibited prior to the reporting of proficiency testing results to the appropriate agencies
- May be required to perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups from newborn to geriatrics
- Assist in the development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures
The Performance Improvement Director develops, manages and integrates a comprehensive Performance Improvement (PI) Program to achieve unprecedented results in quality, efficiency, safety, satisfaction and value with transparency. The Managerial oversight responsibility of the Performance Improvement Program is to develop and share best practices for improving performance in quality, safety, perception of care, value and efficiency; to develop/ maintain scorecards for all Service Lines with defining expected outcomes & benchmarks based on Quality, Safety, Satisfaction and Value; to complete Clinical Assessment, Diagnosis and Treatment for the Service Lines. Responsible for coordinating and managing hospital wide performance improvement activities including continued survey readiness. Responsible for oversight of on going publicly reported quality initiatives undertaken by the organization, like Core Measures, patient'satisfaction, etc. Work collaboratively with Administration and Leadership. Ensures execution and communication of Performance Improvement and patient'safety activities occurs from the department level to Board of Trustees. The scope of activities in managing the PI Program, includes creating collaborative customer relationships; planning appropriate group processes; creating & sustaining a participatory environment; guiding the group to appropriate & useful outcomes; building and maintaining professional knowledge; employing evidence-based practice; integrating best research with expertise & patient values for optimal care; working in interdisciplinary teams; application of performance improvement methodologies to minimize waste, decrease errors, increase efficiency and ultimately improve care and appropriate utilization of informatics to communicate, manage knowledge with clinical expertise and patient values for optimal care.Team facilitation and experience with hospital accreditation standards and survey process preferred. Knowledge of local regulatory standards & OSHA regulations a plus

Now Hiring Student Respiratory Therapists for our St. Mary's Respiratory Team. Under the direction and authorization of the Medical Director and Respiratory Therapy director/manager, the Student Therapist (Respiratory) is responsible for performing respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician. Emphasis will be toward the assessment, planning, implementation and documentation of care, with consideration of age and population specific needs and requirements of the patient. The Student Therapist (Respiratory) works under the direction of a registered or certified therapist. The competencies listed in sections I, II, and III will be learned as the student’s knowledge and skill level increases.

A Graduate Registered Nurse may only practice professional nursing under supervision and if the Graduate Registered Nurse holds a current temporary practice permit. “Supervision” means that a licensed Registered Nurse is physically present in the area or unit where the Graduate Registered Nurse is practicing. The Graduate Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Graduate Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care within the assigned department. The Graduate Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients. He / She communicates with physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including cardiac monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment. The Graduate Registered Nurse must take and pass the NCLEX-RN within ninety days of graduating from an accredited Nursing Program.

Under the general supervision of an RN the extern provides direct patient care in accordance with the established protocols, the skills they are able to perform are expanded. All newly hired externs will first function in the capacity of a nursing assistant, regardless of their nursing program clinical level. When the student has been cleared by the Supervisor, they may be moved to their appropriate skill level.

Uses ultrasound to visualize internal cardiac structures, obtain measurements of cardiac valves, ventricle and left atrium and visualize blood flow. Assists the physician with complex ultrasound procedures. Promotes the smooth and efficient operation of the Cardiopulmonary Department through the appropriate utilization and management of all clerical functions within the department document handling and disposition, interpersonal relationships and information gathering and dispersion.
The physician will take admissions from the ED, direct admissions from outside providers and consults from specialists. This is a day-time only position. Nights are covered by nocturnists.
