Schedule: Full Time, Exempt, Days 

Facility: Rumford Hospital 

Location: 420 Franklin St, Rumford, Maine

 

 

The Lab Manager oversees the day- to day operations of the hospital laboratory, ensuring high-quality, accurate and timely diagnostic testing. This role is responsible for supervising laboratory staff, maintaining compliane with regulatory and safety standards, managing workflow and performance, and supporting continuous process improvement. The Lab Manager partners closely with clinical teams to ensure optimal patient care while also overseeing budgeting, equipment and overall lab efficency.

Other system services include the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute, a regional trauma program, LifeFlight of Maine's southern Maine base, the Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center and other high-quality clinical services.

 

Responsibilities

Responsible for the operational and fiscal management of the clinical laboratory and pathology, in accordance with established hospital and department policies and standards.  Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements mandated by appropriate State and Federal accrediting and licensing agencies.  Special projects or other assignments may be given with expectations to be completed in a specified timeframe. Must be prepared to participate in bench testing as departments needs require. Perform routine laboratory testing to support the department as needed.

Qualifications

  1. Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required
  2. ASCP certification, or equivalent, required.
  3. Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements as stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1489).
  4. Five years of hospital laboratory work experience required.
  5. 2 Years of Laboratory Supervisory Experience required
