Overview

Employment Type: Per Diem/PRN

Shifts Available: Days: Mon - Fri, one weekend day/month and holiday rotation

Hours: 8-hour shift: 7:00am – 3:30pm  

Location: St. Joseph Medical Center - Kansas City, MO 

 

We are seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT, OTR, OTR/L) to join our acute care hospital rehabilitation team. This role delivers occupational therapy services in an inpatient hospital setting, focusing on rehabilitation, functional mobility, activities of daily living (ADLs), safety, and patient independence.

 
The Occupational Therapist will treat adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including neurological conditions, orthopedic injuries, post‑surgical recovery, stroke, and general medical conditions. This position is ideal for candidates seeking hospital OT jobs, acute care occupational therapy, and rehab therapy careers. New graduates and experienced Occupational Therapists with licensure are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Evaluate patients and create individualized occupational therapy treatment plans
  • Provide therapy focused on ADLs, functional mobility, strength, and safety
  • Treat patients with neurological, orthopedic, post‑surgical, and medical conditions
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support patient goals and discharge planning
  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation in the EMR
  • Educate patients and families on adaptive techniques and equipment

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:  

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Current state Occupational Therapy certification/license
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus: 

  • National Board for Certification Occupational Therapy certification, AOTA and OTAC
