Employment Type: Part-time    

Hours: 12-hour shifts – 7:00 pm to 7:00 am

Location: Saint John Hospital – Leavenworth, KS 

 

We are looking for a compassionate Behavioral Health Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this LPN role, you will provide essential nursing care to individuals dealing with mental health conditions. Your support will play a critical role in the management and treatment of patients. Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): 

  • Conduct initial assessments to determine mental health needs and establish a nursing diagnosis. This includes evaluating patients' mental health status and conditions based on medical history, symptoms, and behavioral observations 
  • Develop individualized care plans with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals 
  • Administer medications as prescribed and monitor patients for side effects and responses to these medications 
  •  Provide restorative care to patients, including individual and group therapy sessions. This may involve various therapeutic techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), or other modalities 
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment plans, including coping strategies, self-care techniques, and medication compliance 
  • Respond to crises, using de-escalation techniques to manage behavioral emergencies and ensure patient safety 

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 

  • Current and valid state license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Psychiatric Technician.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • IV certification within 90 days of hire
