The Imaging Support Specialist/Radiology Receptionist performs clerical duties for the Radiology Department such as answering telephones, greeting patients and preparing requisitions for outpatients.

The Radiology Receptionist / File Clerk duties include, but are not limited to:

• Upload/send images from/to other facilities

• Prepare biopsy  information for the Radiologist to review

• Schedule the biopsy patients

• Schedule Cat. 0/3 patients

• Filing patient reports, retrieving patient records for physicians or medical records.
• Demonstrate adequate knowledge of the usual terminology of tests ordered in Radiology.
• Demonstrate good telephone etiquette and be able to greet patients and other visitors in a polite and friendly manner.
• Maneuvers through reception area, as well as, outside storage area.
• Provides clerical support by utilizing telephone, computer, office equipment, PACS (Picture Archive and Communication System) and by running errands throughout the facility.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in related area preferred.
• Two years’ experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Previous scheduling experience strongly preferred.
