Overview

We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomy Technician I (PRN or Per Diem) , also referred to as a Phlebotomy Tech at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL. The Phlebotomy Technician I will be responsible for drawing blood and handling specimens, ensuring proper identification, labeling, and transport to the lab. They also maintain equipment, adhere to quality and safety protocols, record patient data, and collaborate with other departments to ensure effective patient care. This position is as PRN/Per Diem which is as needed.  

 

Shift’s Available:  This one position for both days and nights - 12 Hour Shifts - see schedule below as that is the required work schedule.   

 

Employment Type: Per Diem or PRN

 

Hours:  

Week 1

Monday 5:00AM - 5:30PM or 6:00AM - 6:30PM 

Tuesday 5:00AM - 5:30PM or 6:00AM - 6:30PM 

 

Week 2

Monday 5:00PM - 5:30AM 

 

Week 3 

Monday 5:00AM - 5:30PM or 6:00AM - 6:30PM 

Tuesday 5:00AM - 5:30PM or 6:00AM - 6:30PM

 

Week 4

Monday 5:00PM - 5:30AM

 

A weekend (Saturday and Sunday) must also be worked per month 

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • prepare patients for blood draws, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the process
  • responsible for correct blood collection, draw blood from patients using venipuncture, capillary puncture, or other techniques; ensure proper identification and labeling of specimens
  • organize, handle, and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing, ensure all specimens are properly processed and stored
  • adhere to quality control and safety protocols to maintain the integrity of specimens and ensure accurate test results
  • maintain and calibrate phlebotomy equipment and supplies, ensure everything is in working order and properly sanitized
  • perform more complex or specialized phlebotomy procedures as required, often with minimal supervision

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent, required.
  • BLS certification within 45 days of hire and maintained current, required.

 

Additional Qualifications That Are Preferred:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience, preferred.
