The Director of Nursing (DON) organizes and administers areas of clinical and patient care services to attain facility objectives established by hospital administration. Hospital-wide programs, policies and procedures are developed to assess, evaluate and meet the needs of the patient. Develops and implements hospital plans for providing nursing care, treatment, and clinical services to those patients requiring care treatment and services. The DON participates with the management, medical staff and clinical leaders in the facility's decision making structures and processes. The DON implements an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess and improve the quality of nursing care, treatment and services delivered to patients.

The Staff RN is directly responsible for the care given to his/her assigned patients. He/She communicates with the physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and abnormal results and symptomatology. Coordinates facility response to various potential problems for patients, employees, and visitors. Enforces policy & procedure, ensuring equitable enforcement. Establishes guidelines and perpetual monitoring techniques, towards establishing a safe workplace for employees and a safe environment of care . Works with the Environment of Care committee to ensure a multi-disciplinary approach to security and safety. Participates in employee awareness and education. Coordinates hospital Parking Policy and Lost and Found Policy. Driving as needed for company business.

Coordinates and reviews and coordinates flow of files and documentation in Department. Actively participates in Case Management and Treatment Team meetings. Responsible for reviewing patient charts in order to assess whether the criteria for admission and continuation of treatment has been documented; gathering data and responding to request for records from fiscal intermediary; gathering clinical and fiscal information and communicating status of both open and closed accounts for multiple levels of Case Management reporting.
