The Staff RN is directly accountable for the care given to patients in the Emergency Department. He / She will communicate with the physician about the changes in the patients’ clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. The Staff RN maintains accurate and relevant record of all patient care. The Staff RN is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies. To provide emotional support, crisis intervention and counseling for Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Older Adults and their significant others to cope with a multiplicity of social and emotional problems; information and referral; referrals for financial assistance and supportive services to patients and families with problems that are related to hospitalization, illness, disability or trauma. To provide case management & milieu management, complete psychosocial assessments, assist in the development and re-evaluation of Treatment Plans and work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and to coordinate discharge planning. Complete necessary documentation and maintain clinical record for each client during his/her length of stay.

Promotes the smooth and efficient operation of the Cardiopulmonary Department through the appropriate utilization and management of all clerical functions within the department document handling and disposition, interpersonal relationships and information gathering and dispersion. Provides diagnostic testing to the patient to help optimize the total care given the patient by the patient’s physician. Performs EEGs, Cardiac Stress Testing and EKGs.

The Interventional Endoscopy Technician is directly responsible to the GI physician, Endoscopy RN, Surgeon, or the RN/Supervisor of the area that the Endoscopy is being performed (ie, ER, ICU/CCU, OR). The Interventional Endoscopy Technician works as a scrub assistant to the physician during all invasive endoscopy procedures. They perform all GI procedures including, but not limited to Biopsy, Argon Plasma Coagulation (APC), Barrx, Dilation, Specimen acquisition, Labeling and handling, and Peg Tube placement. All at the direction of the GI Physician, Surgeon, or RN. The Interventional Endoscopy Technician is also responsible for insuring safe transportation, handling, disinfection, sterilization and maintenance of the Flexible Endoscopes, and the Automated Reprocessing devices. Transcribes physician orders in the absence of CPOE and EMR clinical documentation system. Verifies that lab tests and radiology tests have been ordered and done. Prepares and complies records in the ER. Orders supplies for the unit and prepares and completes each patient's chart for necessary forms needed daily. Able to assist nursing staff with indirect patient care duties as long as the activity does not distract from primary responsibility for dysrhythmia monitoring. *Note: May provide direct patient care under the direct supervision of the RN within scope of Certified Nursing Assistant if 1) possesses active CNA certification; 2) demonstrates annual competency in CNA duties and skills and 3) is relieved of Monitor Technician duties during the time of assisting the RN.

The Laboratory Assistant will follow the guidelines set by CLIA, and the CA Business and Professions Codes (bpc: 1212, 1269).  Unlicensed laboratory personnel (“aides”) may not, read, record, result, verify or interpret any laboratory test. Unlicensed laboratory personnel may not perform any test involving the quantitative measurement of specimen or reagent, or perform any mathematical calculation in determining a test result or validity of a test procedure.  Unlicensed laboratory personnel may not perform instrument calibration or review quality control results to monitor the performance of the instrument or test procedure.  Unlicensed personnel require direct and constant supervision by a CLS or other licensed person identified in bpc: 1269, during the entire time they are assisting in the analytical testing phase. The Laboratory Assistant: 1) performs computer entry, filing, telephone communication and other clerical duties, 2) demonstrates good telephone etiquette and be able to greet patients and other visitors in a polite and friendly manner, 3) possesses good communication skills, 4) demonstrates adequate knowledge of the terminology of tests ordered in the laboratory, 5) demonstrates a good working knowledge of phlebotomy and the equipment used in collecting specimens from newborns to geriatric patients, 6) processes pathology, microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, and blood bank specimens, 7) processes specimens for reference laboratory, 8) stocks and orders routine supplies, 9) keeps storage areas, trays, centrifuges, and collection areas clean, 10) processes or places specimens on laboratory instruments in accordance with established policy and procedures, 11) with proper documented training the laboratory assistant may perform, instrument preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, assist in quality control procedures, perform, primary culture inoculations, stain slide preparations, and subculture from liquid media.  11) other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the department manager/director, ie monitor, mail, fax, answer phone, inter departmental deliveries. Under the direction and supervision of the RN, LVN or Charge RN assist the licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care including assistance with activities of daily living. Supports the unit functions and maintains a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors and co-workers; functions as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team and communicates pertinent patient information to the supervising RN. The Infection Control Preventionist is responsible for surveillance, prevention and control of infection. Assists with policy and procedure development and implementation while maintaining CDC, OSHA, AOA HFAP/TJC/CMS/local regulatory and other regulatory agency standards or directives. Acts as a primary education consultant to hospital employees, physicians, patients, volunteers and visitors in safe Infection Control/Prevention practices. Coordinates all hospital infection control activities with the Infection Control Committee, Medical Staff and hospital employees. Responds to potential exposures by communicating with patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and regulatory agencies.

Oversees the food safety and nutritional care aspects of the Food and Nutrition Services Department to ensure full compliance with federal, state and other regulatory agencies. Ensures the efficiency of food prepared in the department taking into consideration food safety, nutritional adequacy and appropriate patient nutritional care responsible for the development and enforcement of policies and procedures that direct clinical services, food preparation, distribution and service, purchasing, sanitation, safety practices, performance improvement, and staff education and development.

Responsible for the coordination of the various activities of the Case Management Department under the direction of the assigned Case Manager/Social Worker assist with development and implementations of discharge plans. Assists with case management referrals and authorizations. Maintains and coordinates Medicaid state submission forms for presentation to on-site reviewer and files them accordingly or as per facility’s procedure. Assists with Discharge Planning as assigned by interviewing patients/families and gathering data to develop a safe patient-focused Discharge Plan.

The Specialist, Cash Applications is the lead responsible for posting all incoming payments to correct patient accounts on a daily basis. Inputs and retrieves data from computer systems. Reconciles accounts daily. Applies payments to patient accounts accurately and efficiently. Ability to communicate with school age, adolescent, young adult, middle adult to older adults. Please note any duties or projects assigned will need to be completed.

Under the direction and authorization of the medical director and cardiopulmonary director, the RCP II is responsible for performing respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician. Emphasis will be toward the assessment, planning, implementation and documentation of care, with consideration of age and population specific needs and requirements of the patient. In the absence of a supervisor, may be assigned/identified as Lead RCP, having responsibility for the section or department during their shift.

The Certified Surgical Technologist I is responsible for the preparation of sterile supplies and instruments for each assigned procedure, maintaining sterile field during case and providing surgeon with sterile supplies and instruments during assigned procedures. The Certified Surgical Technologist I is an employee with a minimum of 0-1 years’ experience or an employee who is proficient in the following surgical specialties: General Surgery, Urology, Minor Vascular, GYN, Minor Orthopedics, and Minor Neurosurgery/Neurospine. For applicable cases, the Certified Surgical Technologist I is proficient in performing cases laparoscopically, open, or robotically assisted. The Behavioral Health Charge Nurse is responsible and accountable to the Department Director for the quality of nursing staff and the delivery of patient care during his/her shift and assists the Director in the daily operation of the respective unit(s)/department. He/she provides direct communication with the Director and/or House Supervisor of unanticipated patient care events and/or risk management activities within patient care unit(s); Utilizes nursing personnel effectively, assisting with required scheduling, staffing and assignments; Provides direction, supervision and evaluation of staff and/or staff education as necessary; Assists with performance evaluations, progressive discipline of staff and other related HR activities as needed; Assesses supplies and equipment availability, ensures their proper use and functionality and assists in the daily maintenance of par levels; Collaborates with other department managers/supervisors to ensure smooth coordination of services to patients; enhanced patient flow within the facility and efficient admission/discharge/transfer processes; Assesses patient care delivery and quality of care/documentation on a consistent basis; directs staff members to make immediate changes in the plan of care, as appropriate to ensure patient safety and adherence to regulatory guidelines, hospital policies, procedures, protocols and/or clinical pathways and notifies Department Director, House Supervisor and/or Medical Staff as appropriate utilizing the chain of command. Interviews patients/families on admission and during rounds to enhance positive patient experiences, provide comprehensive orientation to the patient care unit and increase patient/family awareness on how to access services and/or the charge nurse, if necessary. RNs record patients’ medical histories and symptoms, help to perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operate medical machinery, administer treatment and medications, and help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation. RNs teach patients and their families how to manage their illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and physical therapy. Other related duties.

The Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Psychiatric Technician provides direct and indirect patient care services requiring technical and manual skills, within the scope of practice, that meet the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care, and meets the communication needs of the patient and family; Performs under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Demonstrates knowledge of EMTALA Regulations and triage process in the ER setting.

Performs Diagnostic Radiographic Procedures according to department protocols, HFAP/TJC/local regulatory/CMS, State and Federal Regulations. Functions as the first line interface with customers and is successful in the accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in PI/QC activities. Responsible for processing and transmission of images to PACS.
